Dr Light performed a laminectomy discetomy on me in 1999. He gave me back my life. Fantastic doctor. I flew to see him from Jamaica. First class treatment.
Dr Light is paid by medical device companies and does not have his patient’s best interests in mind. I only found this out after going through surgery with him (the surgery failed as well). Wish I would have known. Also, I definitely got a creepy vibe from him. I would steer clear. Also recommend searching your doctor on here to see if they’re paid by the device company. Dr Light was so pleased with the way the x-ray looked after surgery stating how “perfect” it looked, however, a perfectly straight cervical spine is not what you want. He changed the curve in my spine (and he did NOT need to do this surgery at all, I later found out) and now other areas of my back are in pain. Do not go to this surgeon.
Performed an unnecessary surgery with a newer device that made my pain worse. Newer is not better. Always research devices before agreeing to surgery. The FDA doesn’t regulate them and there aren’t even human trials for most devices. The process is appalling and doctors need to be conservative. Dr. Light is part of the problem.
This doc is the best ever! I would love to reverse my fusion and replace with the new disk on my neck and lower back. Only doc out there that keeps you walking.
My experience with Doctor Light is that he is a rare, world class surgeon, who cares about his patients. He listened to me and gave me wise advice for my multiple disc damaged spine. The results of his multiple discectomy fusion surgery of my cervical discs was excellent. My life was greatly improved. In his waiting room I often saw people with great success stories that had driven for hours, or sometimes flown in to see him. I found his staff to be pleasant, professional, and caring. Dr Light is the worst Dr I have ever been to. I had to go to another Dr in if San Francisco to correct Dr lights huge mistakes.
