Extremely satisfied with the food, service and ambiance of the place. All the food we ordered impressively tasted good! The cashew kare2 and pork inihaw are a must try but everything else was worth our time, too. Additionally, Chef Paolo and Cook Derrick made sure we were accommodated very well. It makes a difference to be able to have a conversation with the people who preps the food you eat. Overall, I consider this resto as a hidden star in DC.
My wife and I stopped by on a random weekday evening and had a truly great, memorable experience. Axel and JL were excellent bartenders and servers who were friendly and easy to talk to. They even showed me how they make their Pandan Old Fashioned, explained the process behind the pandan syrup, and sent me home with a small sample to try! We ordered the Hot Chicken Bao, Tuna & Watermelon, and Dumplings. Everything was excellent, but the Hot Chicken Bao was easily both my wife’s and my favorite dish. I was expecting to really like this place but the food and service was not good. Most of what we had was bland and one of the desserts was inedible. The service was also bad, we were never asked how the food was. We had a 9pm reservation and were told the bar was doing last call in the middle of the main course. It was a disappointing experience overall.
Decent food, but not worth the price. At $300 (including tip), the quality of food didn't match up. Would return to the bar for a la carte, but the 3-course menu price is steep. Dumplings were solid as the first course. Ube cocktail is more performative than quality. Wagyu steak was fine, but the flavor didnt pop. Wife's crab noodles were much more interesting. Desserts were Ok but gladly would have skipped them (banana bread and balo balo, respectively). Have enjoyed many restaurants in the city at a lower price point.
We did a food experience and it was very delicious. It was a tasting with hot chicken boa and curry agnolotti were out of this world with much flavor. The tuna and watermelon not so much. However, the other dishes made up for it.
