About this business

For more than a 100 years, this huge cafeteria-style Jewish deli has been delighting New Yorkers with their pastrami and brisket sandwiches alongside their scrumptious "kosher-style" meals. The humble eatery, with Formica tables lined up in rows, may not be the ideal place to take a date (unless you want to remind him or her of eating in a school lunchroom), but if you are craving a giant sandwich served with perfect pickles or a couple of kosher hot dogs, there is perhaps no better place than Katz's in the city. Not the finest food but authentic place that makes it quite charming. It's very busy so it's not somewhere you want to go to chill though.

Really nice pastrami - expensive though! I recommend take out! Always busy and crowded. Not nice to sit

The pastrami sandwich is the best one you’ll ever have. Combine with a soup.

The experience is cool, but it's extremely crowded, the wait is long, the meat is fat (I couldn't finish) and $25 for a sandwich is expensive. It's worth doing at least once I guess, because it's FUN!

No way to find a better pastrami sandwich than Katz deli makes. Portions are huge. Rec!

If you see a big line it doesn’t necessarily mean a long wait. A line we joined halfway down the street took about 20 mins. Then we queued for another ten minutes to order. And the food was amazing

The line was just too long and we waited a lot. However, the pastrami sandwich was just too good to be true.

Honestly I found it overrated but it could be either cause the pastrami wasn't good or either cause I'm not a pastrami person.
