Used to live about 8 doors down from Katy's - now living in Ecuador, but still occasionally dream about my daily Non-fat, sugar free vanilla latte........

I go put of my way to come here because it is a community and like family.
Katy's is the start to almost every morning for me, and a Central District institution. One of the things I'd miss most if I ever moved from the neighborhood is starting my day with a hot beverage, a delicious pastry (baked from scratch right in the shop, every day!), and a lively chat with Katy, her team, and the many wonderful neighbors I've had opportunity to meet hanging out at the cafe. What better way to build community?!
Very sweet neighborhood coffee shop - they welcome dogs and have dog biscuits....& a variety of tasty options that are not all cookies, muffins, I very much enjoyed a delicious slice of quiche....looking forward to visiting again in the future!
We only popped in for a latte, unfortunately discovering this hidden gem at the end of our trip, but it was still an amazing experience! Warmth and friendliness from Katy and her staff, excellent coffee and dog friendly! Even the other customers were friendly and obviously loyal. Made me wish we lived down the street so we could go every day!
Katy is a one woman show! She operates out of a small shop below her home (I assume it was her home, she fed and caffeinated tenants as they shuffled downstairs). It was by far the best coffee I had in Seattle, and the most friendly coffee shop I visited. Katy and her tiny coffeehouse should be a staple for everyone - locals and tourists alike.
