Dr Hatch struggles with bed side manner. She seemed to get annoyed quickly with my questions as if I should already know the things she spent years in school learning. I began to feel too uncomfortable to ask things i felt i needed to know. She was also quite rude to the other assistants which was off putting.
Business response:
Hello, we are sorry to learn about your experience. At Mass Eye and Ear, we strive to provide excellent service to our patients and would like to have a conversation with you offline. Please contact our Patient Relations office at 617-573-3008 or Susan_Corbett@meei.harvard.edu. Thank you.
Dr. Hatch seems knowledgeable and confident in her clinical judgment. Her manner is curt, impatient, and not personable. She didn’t explain her decisions until I asked several questions, she barely looked at me while speaking, and didn’t bother to treat me like a patient who she’d like to keep. It was unclear why a professional would treat a person in such a rude manner. She also didn’t explain or apologize in any way for a very long wait time (over an hour). Despite my gratitude for her treatment choices, her arrogant appro... read more
I have been a patient of Dr. Masselam Hatch's for about two years. I was referred to Dr. Masselman Hatch by my former (world renowned ) Ophthalmologist surgeon, Dr. Jonathan Talamo. I had both Lasik and PRK surgery years ago by Dr. Talamo, and I could not have been treated more professionally or with better care anywhere than I did with Dr. Talamo. As the years went by, I was now at a point where I needed the best Cataract surgeon, as I am a very complicated case! I asked Dr. Talamo's advice, and he referred me to Dr. Massel... read more
Dr. Hatch is extremely thorough, knowledgeable, patient and personable. It’s a credit to her and her reputation that the members of her staff speak so highly about her. I consider that to be an excellent indication of her character that she commands such respect and loyalty from the employees with whom she works on a daily basis.
Business response:
Thank you so much for your positive comments, Mike R.!
Dr. Hatch is highly knowledgeable, respectful & patient. Her ability plus the most up to date equipment resulted in a huge improvement in my left eye after cataract surgery using a Toric lens & the ORA. Just before surgery in my right eye, while I was already prepped, I asked questions about my post surgery sight and Dr. Hatch suggested we pause and discuss it further. She helped me realize I wasn’t ready to proceed and was supportive and gracious about my decision. I have very high standards in my choice of medical provider... read more

Your praise and kind comments are very much appreciated! Thank you for the wonderful recommendation.
Dr. Hatch and her team are extremely thorough, professional, personable and competent. From the pre-cataract procedure to the follow up visits, the experience was fantastic. I felt completely at ease and the results were amazing. Dr. Hatch is a skilled surgeon and I would highly recommend her.
Business response:
Thanks so much for the recommendation!
I went to Dr. Hatch for Lasik, based on a recommendation from my regular eye doctor. Knowing that Mass Eye and Ear has the latest technology was a big selling point for me. I believe that Dr. Hatch is the only doctor in the Boston area able to do SMILE, in addition to Lasik. The entire staff was great. It was obvious in my first visit that the staff is great at working together as a team. I highly recommend Dr. Hatch and Mass Eye and Ear.
Dr. Hatch is focused, informative and a highly skilled surgeon. My results have been excellent, beyond my expectations.
The initial exam was one of the most thorough exams EVER in my life. With a familial history of Fuch's I chose this experienced corneal specialist by chance., With the Fuch's minimal, I returned a few years later for cataract removal. Only great things happened during my visits. Minimal wait times with pleasant professional support staff. Dr. Hatch is busy as a top rated eye surgeon, although that does not stop her from answering questions and being caring. The surgery was expertly done
