One year post hernia surgery I continue to experience a complication. She did not cite this possibility in our conversations.
My visit was ruined by the medical assistant/nurse making a comment about my weight during the initial assessment. I was so upset it was hard to focus during my visit with Dr. Lamond. I asked to speak to someone about my experience and was left in my exam room for 10 minutes waiting for an office manager before I finally walked out.
First, I must say that I would never downplay anyone else's experiences because that was their experience, and they are entitled to feel the way they feel. However, I am an African American woman, and I had the complete opposite experience. Dr. Lamond was exceptional, had an excellent bedside manner, and her team went over and beyond with my care. Dr Lamond and her entire team were consummate professionals exhibiting both medical excellence and human compassion. I encountered Dr. Lamond as a result of a visit to the ER at Sibley that found I needed emergency surgery. Dr Lamond was assigned to me but I could not have chosen a better surgeon if I had conducted an extensive search. I would not recommend this doctor. I went through the entire process—months of weight management for Dr Lamond to reject me as a patient in the end. She did not provide an explanation or communicate why I was rejected for treatment but the whole experience felt petty, catty and culturally insensitive. I would not recommend this doctor if you want to be treated like a human being. Sorry, not sorry….
