Service so bad the dining experience can not be enjoyed no matter how good the food. – My first time at Kashkaval, I loved it. I loved the variety of the yummy mediterranean tapas. The huge salads, great cheese and reasonably priced wines. However, I have gone about seven times since, and I have finally had it with the horrendous service. Good Food Bad Service – The waitress with the blondish short hair there is awful. She is loud and obnoxious and can be heard cursing and saying inappropriate things at all times all over the restaurant. This place is really cute but for the first hour we were there all we heard was her loud disgusting voice. Bad service, check manipulated by waitress! – I was there yesterday 12/19/2007 (Wednesday). The service was horrendous. The fondue we ordered soon turned cold because the flame under it went out - and NO ONE came to light it up. On top of that the blond waitress had the audacity to come up to us and ask us if we were done. The waitress added her own tip on my check - which I'm currently disputing with my bank. Slow Service – I have been here many times, (for take-out) each time it was very good. The girl that attends the counter makes you wait so long to be served, and she was just sitting there. I went in one time at 10:20, sign says closes at 11:00, door opened, she yells we are closed. She couldn't just get me one thing that I wanted. I will not go back in there, I could understand if they are busy, but it has happended too many times.
Worth the wait! – Been here often for both eat-in and take-out. The food is fantastic. Service can be a bit slow at times... becoming a neighborhood favorite has it's ups and downs... but it is worth the wait. It's a well-invested evening, in my opinion... go there on a date.. have a bottle of wine and just relax. It's cozy and warm... and fondue is super romantic!
Incredibly slow service but good, different dining experience – First of all, making reservations is nearly impossible because they NEVER answer the phone at this place. My boyfriend finally got through after many failed attempts by both of us to make a reservation for 6 on a Saturday night at 8:30. We arrived at about 8:10pm and were promptly seated in a corner pic-nic bench-style table that was very cozy and relaxed. A Quaint Place for a Good Date – I came across this restaraunt looking for a cool place to have a date, and boy was I glad I found it. The prices are really reasonable. I had the combo plate of Greek appetizers and it was so good...that could have been our dinner. The fondue wasn't too oily which sometimes can happen. There were so many choices that it was hard to choose, and actually I am going back tonight....to try something new. New date....and new food!!! You gotta love NY. I guarantee you won't be disappointed.
Fantastic, cozy date spot! – I used to go here with my boyfriend constantly! It was our spot and we both loved it. I still go there sometimes with friends and for cheese & snack take-out. The service is dependable and knowledgeable... the selection of cheeses and meats is incredible... I highly recommend a snack plate with the roasted red pepper walnut spread! Amazing!
Delicious! – What an awesome experience! I've always wanted to try fondue so my boyfriend took me here on a lovely date. As you walk in, there's a deli, then a wine bar, and then seating for meals. The place is quite small, so it's a good thing we got there early before the crowd. I had the Cheddar and Beer fondue and my boyfriend had the Classic Swiss fondue.
