The birth center is horrible. My daughter's scheduled c section was 2 hours late and no one got to see her because visiting hours are done at 8. The woman at the desk told me at 6pm that I should just go home because I would not be seeing her. My daughter's 1st baby. Major surgery and her mother could not see her because they ran 2 hours behind. I want to share my heartfelt gratitude for my labor and delivery nurse, Alicia Amante, who cared for me during the birth of my son, Edwin Thornton, at Corewell Royal Oak on July 23, 2025. I went here anticipating I would have my daughter in the Natural Birth Center. I don’t really want to stress about it or be long winded with this review but here’s what happened. I went in for my water being broken. I wasn’t sure because I’m a FTM. I was in the L & D waiting room for over four hours when I finally told the check in nurse I was worried and didn’t know what was going on. I was finally taken to the back and was put in a bed. Today, my baby was born! I feel so warm and bubbly inside but I know that my experience would have been very different if it wasn’t for Christine (Sandra Bullock) on the night shift, Allison on the day shift, and Dr. Won or Wong (everything went to fast) on the day shift. Good luck trying to get in. I came in to triage they said I couldn't go to the Karmanos center because my BP was high. Actually it was high because I was already at 8-9cm dilated. Even when they checked me and found out they still said they couldn't let me in. That's how they keep their numbers so nice. They're super selective even my OB later told me they knew the Karmanos wasn't going to let me in 😒 I had my baby an hr later only a few pushes, non medicated in the normal L&D, the postpartum room is garbage and the meal se... read more
