Day 8 - Cosmosphere Excellent collection and teaching vehicle on US and Russian space race. Many items including the backup Sputnik I and the unmentioned Eisenhower thoughts on flashy satellite showmanship that delayed space communication and satellites and manned flight. X-1 “Mach 1” very interesting exhibit on German rocketry like V1 and V2. I enjoyed the much covered (in English) Korelenko details including quotes. Oddly, NO mention of gimbals for rocket motors v rocket launch systems. Also no Energia rocket details altho... read more

This place is amazing. I actually think it’s better than the space center Houston and I LOVE that place. The timeline of exhibited moving from the earliest supersonic flight up to modern day...wow! Seeing the Apollo 13 command module was breathtaking. Seeing Gus Grissom’s mercury capsule? Omg. I didn’t want to leave. It was well worth the 8 hour drive.
