This place really needs to be looked into. If we are paying that much for coverage, we expect a better healthcare system. ER is supposed to stand for Emergency Room — but here it might as well mean Endless Waiting Room. I sat there for over 7 hours without being seen by a doctor. My mom recently fell, and we chose Kaiser Ontario’s ER—even though we drove past two closer hospitals. She’s had good experiences here before, and once again she felt comfortable and cared for. That trust in the staff really mattered in the moment. For me, everything was calmer than I expected. I don’t have experience with emergency rooms, and based on TV I assumed it would be chaotic. I meant to give Ontario a 1 star, not a 5 star. As an employee of Kaiser myself, who often works in the ER; as well as many other departments (at a different location); I found my experience deeply troubling, not only for how I was treated, but for what it suggests about how others, particularly vulnerable patients such as those who may be unhoused, are likely treated. Horrible ER. Have been waiting 4+ hours so far next to trash and used tissues by other sick people. This place doesn’t seem sanitary in the waiting room. I asked for an update for my mom who has high blood pressure, is feeling unlike herself, and they were completely unhelpful. It’s 4am and she needs to be seen fast so she can rest. So many people have walked out of the ER without help because they are so delayed.
