Good Value – My wife and I went out for our anniversary in September and we decided to go to the Kabuki. Despite being seated with a real snobby party of 6 who had two of them show up late, my wife and I were pleased with the quality of the food and the service from the teppanyaki chef and waitstaff. While the rude people at our table were carping, we were given extra portions from the chef as a reward for our patience. Hailing from Orange County, CA, I try to keep my expectations low about Twin Cities sushi. Fortunately, I ... read more

Who Would Have Thought... – ...That sushi comparable to reputable places in Shinjuku, Ikebukuro and Tsukiji would exist in Eden Prairie, MN? Sushi chefs not only make the rolls in front of you, but also work tirelessly on preparation, menu and fish-vendor choices. With this in mind, the sushi chefs at Kabuki, particularly Hiroshi, are true artists and masters of their craft. The owner/host is, at best, annoying, and at worst, incredibly venal, but the waitstaff and chefs are friendly and engaging. Prices are more than reason... read more

Not so much – Unlike the person below who thinks this might be better than places they've heard of on the East or West coast, I have to say I'd disagree. I definitely didn't think the fish was that fresh. Although many places do make the spicy tuna roll differently, this is my least favorite of the ones I've had. The fresh water eel also seemed different than what I'm used to. The shrimp tempura roll was OK, but not for the price they charge ($8.25 for 4 pieces). Overall I was unimpressed as were my 7 other friends who went ... read more

My Favorite Restaurant – Kabuki's California rolls are made with real crab meat (not imitation) and I've been eating there for 5 years. Their sushi is fresh and the staff is very friendly and treats you like family. There are many loyal customers, some of which are from out of town and say that the sushi here is better than what they can get on the East or West cost. The teppanyaki food is excellent and I think is better priced than the local competing teppanyaki restaurants.

Are you kidding? This place is an absolute dump! Sushi at SuperTarget tops this poor excuse for a restaurant. They use cheap imitation crab meat for California Rolls and their fish stinks. Service is even worse. The place is dark and looks like it has not been redecorated or cleaned since 1974. Been there several times because it is so close to work (other people's choice to go). Go to Byerly's, even their supermarket sushi is better.

The best "raw Deal" you can get – I have eaten sushi around the world, in California for 8 years and on business trips to Japan; this sushi bar rivals any I have found. The sushi chef, Hiroshi, takes great pride in the most extensive sushi offerings in the midwest. No other sushi bar in the Twin Cities offers otoro, fresh hamachi, fresh aoyagi, fresh mirugai, fresh giant clam, fesh hokkigai, katsuo, aji, suzuki, Santa Barbara uni, blue fin and big eye tuna, shiro maguro, and awabi to name a few selections outside the normal ... read more
