Great place for a casual dinner – If you're looking for a casual place where the food is good and they won't rush you out of there (like other smaller sushi places), check out Kabuki. I've been going for years and have never been disappointed. The Firecracker appetizer is especially yummy if you like spicy tuna and don't want even more rice.

This place literally made me sick for an entire week – I have been to Kabuki about a dozen times on some of my many visits to Pasadena and I used to actually really like their food. Its not the best sushi (best sushi is at Sushigo55) but I liked Kabuki enough to keep going back, until that one last time ... I dont remember anything tasting bad or "off" or anything but throughout that day I started feeling worse until nighttime when my body gave up fighting. Apparently citysearch doesn't allow me to go into much more detail, ... read more

Decent food, but AWFUL service – Kabuki is generally a great place to go, that is consistently of decent quality throughout the various locations. Cerritos however, is the exception to the rule. If looking to go to a Kabuki resturant Huntington Beach or Howard Hughes are much better alternatives... I would even opt for RA (which I don't like as much) over the Cerritos location of Kabuki. My complete review of my experience: For the most part if you go to Kabuki, you can expect a pretty good, somewhat americanized, Japanese f... read more

Where's the server? – I didn't even get a chance to try the food here. The service was so poor my party left before we even got water. We went today for my birthday. It was about 5 on a saturday but they were surprisingly not busy. We were seated and given menus immediately. But then after sitting there for a good 15 to 20 minutes, with tons of servers walking padt us without any acknowledgement, my friend stopped a girl and politely asked for some waters. 5 minutes later she came back by with a tray of waters and walked rig... read more

Be sure to ask for the UNI! – Growing up in Kansas City, as a high school freshman, I began my first stint of gainful employment in 1985 (part-time) as a dishwasher for Jun's (then on 103rd & State Line). I was then first introduced to a delicacy known as sushi (unheard of in my peer circles at THAT time) and started my education in Asian cuisine. Arigato, Junsan for those heaping bowls of sushi we'd get from the overstock on Sunday nights. Since the mid-80's, I've certainly taken in my fair share of sashimi and maki, and as... read more

Stay away. Far away. – I spent several years of my life living in Tokyo, so I know a few things about sushi. There are a lot of sushi places in the US that actually serve up a good roll, but Kabuki just isn't one of them. I ordered the "Sashimi and Sushi Dinner." First up was, oddly enough, a very generic American-style salad with Thousand Island dressing. Next was miso soup which was VERY bland - the restaurant had made no effort to disguise the fact that it is from the cheapest of cheapest powdered mixes. It was served luk... read more

i had that same woman too – I was reading some of these comments and noticed the one about the woman who rolled her eyes! I started dying because I went in with some of my friends and had the same experience. Asked her a question and she answered abruptly and ROLLED HER EYES. Kaci you are not doing Kabuki a service, because we are not going there again!

FOOD ILLNESS!! Don't come here! – My girlfriend and I ate here about two months ago and shared the spicy tuna on crispy rice in addition to our own entrees. To start with our entree's came before our appetizer and my girlfriend's entree was cold. Then came our appetizer and then our drinks. Unfortunately we did not send back our meals because they took so long in the first place and we were going to a movie across the street. The waiter did apologize for the mess ups and we still tipped 25%. The worst was yet to come: When w... read more

Terrible atmosphere & long wait for a casual dining expreience – First of all I have mixed thoughts, the food is well presented, one of the waitresess was excellent, but the food was mediocre, the wait is far beyond necessity and the atmosphere is nasty. I had one waitress (younger latina) acknowledge us and advise us it would be 10 - 15 minutes or so before we could be seated, very friendy, then the other nasty (older latina) which we could barely understand, yell at the other for making us wait. ???? (Party of 8) We were l... read more
