Will eat there again. – I have just moved to KC from NYC, love sushi and ate it all the time in NYC. I have dined at some of the upper market places in NYC such as Nobu, Kai and Gheisa, adn whilst Kabuki is not in this class, my first experience was up there with a reasonable mid-range Japanese restaurant. We ate on a Monday night, slow night. But there was about 1/3 full, and one regular sat next to me and seemed to know the sushi game and the sushi bar chef was straight with him when asked what was good and fresh and was j... read more

Worst sushi in Kansas City – As a sushi lover, any other sushi restaurant in Kansas City is better than Kabuki. Kabuki is often less than clean. Kabuki has terrible service. Kabuki sometimes uses mayonaise on their rolls. Yich. Hikari is inconsistent. Sushi House is overpriced, but the environmnet is the best. Juns is reliable, but service can be lacking. Siki is the best overall.

Horrible service! – The service is absolutely horrific. I took clients to this place for lunch and after ordering, we waited 1 hour before we were served. Last night, I went back and had to search for the waitress at least three times because we were out of drinks, forgot apps, etc. I'm fairly forgiving if the restaurant is full, but each time, she was at the bar watching tv..... I won't be back.

Could be better – After having arrived here in KC, I was so glad to find a sushi place so near, as I am a real sushi-lover. I was a little astonished to find fried calamares on the menue wich is definitely not a typical japanese dish. The rolls were good, with some unusual ingredients - which is nice. Service could be more friendly.

Worst service ever – I went for the first in 2001 and had good service and pretty good sushi. But on my most recent visit the quality of everything from service to food was terrible. The service was so bad that I came close to walking out. The walls and floor were so dirty that I really did not want to order food from this restaurant then on top of that when we received our food there little flies flying around our table indoors in February!? Will never go there again.

Excellent! – Kabuki is a wonderful place for lunch or dinner at a great price. I make it a point to stop in whenever I'm in KC. The food is fresh, and they are gracious hosts. The atmosphere is incredibly calming, which is perfect if you've had a long day of work or shopping. It became one of my top 5 KC favorites from the first time I dined there several years ago. If you're looking for an elegant and relaxing restaurant with wonderful cuisine and service, try Kabuki.

Great Sushi Great price!! – I waited for 15 minutes to finally be told that I could have just gone in to eat at the sushi bar. Took a while to get something to drink. Sushi chefs are very nice and friendly. They gave me some soy beans, to snack on which were good, but you can't eat the whole thing. I didn't know that. Open the pod and just eat the beans..to save yourself from the embarrassment. They have a huge variety of all the different kinds of sushi and make it special if you only want certain things. I ordered some rol... read more

Great Japanese Food in Downtown KC – I'm not a fan of sushi. But when I worked in downtown KC for five years, this was a favorite lunch spot for my coworkers. I first tried tempura here, which is fantastic. Their salads are wonderful, too. Great atmosphere - the moment you walk in you'll forget you're in a mall. The food presentation and service are outstanding, too. Highly recommended.
