Critically acclaimed Keizo Ishiba's premier ambition as chef-owner is K-ZO. Located in Culver City, the restaurant presents a true expression of his culinary vision and expertise. His knowledge of European cuisine combined with his traditional Japanese roots swirl through his masterful dishes, creating a truly unique yet refreshingly classical dining experience. The trendy Culver City crowd that frequents this sushi spot know that in terms of sushi and creativity, this is as good as it gets.

Sushi-master star rises in Culver City, conjuring sublime sushi and dazzling small plates. – The Scene Stylish minimalism converges with industrial chic as polished concrete, plate glass, white walls, grey banquettes and exposed pipes offset gunmetal beads and flickering votives. The gleaming sushi bar mesmerizes an upscale Culver City crowd, culinary pilgrims and handsome young professionals. The Food Chef/owner Keizo Ishiba (formerly of Sushu Roku) revitalizes the soul of Japanese tradition with accents of French technique... read more
Best Sushi in L.A. – Without a doubt the best sushi in Los Angeles. Order from the chefs special menu - you're guaranteed the freshest, finest creations made from Keizo himself. This is Japanese cuisine at its best: creative, progressive & traditional at the same time, efficient, friendly - exactly what you'd find in Japan. Keizo comes from Roku, and thankfully left the Roku "scene" back on 3rd Street. Unparalleled!!!!
large sashimi servings – the place is nice and fairly popular so it is best to make reservations. i tried the albacore, yellowtail and salmon sashimi. they came with 4 pieces each but they are huge servings. i thought they tasted fresh and buttery. yum! i also tried the monk fish liver sushi, which i thought was just ok (echigo's is better). i tried the white shrimp and i was not impressed (sushi zo's is better). i tried the blue crab hand roll and i definitely was not impressed - echigo's and sasabune's are better. i would ... read more
Unforgettable Sushi Experience. – I work in Beverly Hills, and live on the west side, so I thought I have been to all the great sushi restaurants. K-Zo is frankly the best sushi I have had in LA. I had heard about the owner and chef, though our sushi was prepared by another chef, who is truly an artist. From the temperature of the food to the presentation and service, this meal was unforgettable. The decor is very hip and cool - it would work for a date or just a relaxing dinner after work. It's worth every penny.
Wonderful – The restaurant is beautiful and the food is fantastic. We live in Santa Monica and all the great sushi places are always too crowded. I'm thrilled that there's finally a reason to travel to Culver City for dinner. It's always been a great place to stroll through but not necessarily ideal for dining. That's now changed. Service was helpful and attentive but not overdone. Will certainly return again and again.
Loved it! – Great little Sushi place next to Trader Joes in Culver City. Extremly friendly staff and wonderful food. A bit over priced, but worth it. You can even call ahead to reserve a wonderful private table for a group of up to 6., otherwise you are pretty close with other diners. Cool bar as well.Great eats! Check it out.
Leaving Hungry and Frustrated – WeI went on a date there on 11/10/06, at around 7p.m.. We ordered the food. The waitress took our order. The two of of the ordered dishes arrived promptly. Yet the two others have never arrived. After a long wait, I pointed it out to the waitress. She returned after quite a long delay, with no food, and mumbling something apologetic. We told her that we had a movie to catch, and asked just to bring a bill. She left, and there was another long-long waiting. Finally, I got up and told my date th... read more
totally worth the trip – This is great & creative sushi -- much better than 'standards' like Roku, etc and worth the trip. Sometimes creative can be a bad thing at sushi places but at K-Zo they're not out to impress you with their creativity (nothing over-the-top), they simply want to provide you with tasty food and an enjoyable eating experience. The service at K-Zo is wonderful -- everyone is so nice and accommodating and take clear strides to make sure that you have an enjoyable dinner. Quite possibly the nicest service I... read more
You're Bound to Have a Good Time – I've only eaten here 2x since opening, but both times were really positive experiences. I would have to disagree with the last review that this is the only decent restaurant worth going to in Culver City (true foodies would know Culver City has had many critically-acclaimed chefs opening their own restos in the city), as this would seem to lower K-Zos standards. Even among the many great restaurants in the city, K-Zo still is one of the more memorable ones. I don't particularly like sushi t... read more
