In September 2009 my son was at USA Women’s and Children for an emergency surgery for a blocked intestine. My son was 5 years old at the time and has Down Syndrome. I met with Dr Varma just minutes prior to surgery and advised her that my son had a small airway and not to use an age appropriate tube ...I knew this from previous surgeries etc. She apparently completely ignored my information and when he came out of surgery he was unable to be extubated for almost 3 weeks.
