I really like the clothes here, but talk about attitude. I had a similar experience a couple months back. I needed to exchange a belt I received as a gift, for the next size. An interrogation ensued when I couldn't produce a receipt. The brunette female manager (Rochelle?) with the close set eyes is not accommodating. I ended up just buying the size I needed because I liked the belt. I gave the other belt to my assistant. I wouldn't shop here if you intend to give something as a gift. My assistant suggested doing the holiday... read more
LOYAL CLIENT GONE SOUR.. – Worst service ever!! I received a gift (shirt) from my best friend for my 40TH Birthday. I love the shirt! It was the wrong size and I just wanted to exchange it for a smaller one. They told me I could NOT exchange it! I just received it 5 days ago and I've never use it I told them. I asked to speak to the Store Manager? I spoke to a snotty guy by the name of RAF and he told me to try the N.Y. store since it was purchased there. Then a lady by the name of (MICHELLE) I believe, chimed in and said if... read more
Former CBGBs site – Entered the store today. It was functioning on multiple platforms, all nostalgic: It's a record store, memorabilia museum, punk rock tomb, designer showcase, and photography gallery of work heralding a next generation of pre-teen rockers (who won't be able to afford the Varvatos brand with the collapse of the recording industry). Anyway, the store is another site for mourning the lost New York. Thank you retail therapy.
Cool Clothing – Purchased three suits with the help of Louis and Raf. Beautiful fabrics, awesome style and incredible service by the entire staff. Love the style and fit.
Bullshi t. – I can't believe NYC lost a place of legend to make way for an overrated designer boutique. History sells I guess.
Rock 'n' roll fashion lives on inside the former digs of legendary rock club CBGB. – In Short The Ramones, Blondie, Talking Heads, Patti Smith--315 Bowery was once the epicenter of the New York punk scene. Now, for better or for worse, it's the home of designer John Varvatos' rock 'n' roll duds. The 3,300 square-foot space is an homage to its former self, with a sparkling noir chandelier, torn-up concert fliers, oversized rock posters and even a votive candle shrine, presumably to rock gods past. The collection showcases a c... read more
From super 'fan' to 'never again.' – Simply put, the worst customer experience in recent memory. Trying to return something there was almost impossible. My girlfriend bought me a pair of shoes about a week before giving them to me for my birthday. Didn't fit, so I planned on going back to the store for a refund or exchange the following weekend. when I arrive I learn that the autocratic management's return policy is: no refund after 10 days. So within hours of receiving them as a gift the return option expired! Ok, I think t... read more
Great experience - Will go back again when in LA – As one of my favorite designers, I always like to check out what the store has when I am in a city that has one. Since I was visiting LA a few months ago and had some time to run errands with a family member one of the free days...we stopped by the store, maybe a couple of hours before closing time. At the time, we were the only car in the parking lot (a few people came in later). A nice fellow greeted us at the door and we were walking around for just a bit before another f... read more
Fashion for the man who needs to go a step beyond Banana Republic. – The Scene A beautiful store hosts this men's label that's garnered top fashion honors. Walls are lined with color coordinated separates, dressing rooms are large and comfy and low tables hold accessories and piles of sweaters or shirts. The Goods Varvatos has won fashion accolades because his designs work for a huge range of men, while competitors only fill niches. The clothes are expertly cut from luxe fabrics like cashmere, wool, suede and shearling, but ... read more
