I saw Dr Sherman in June 2014 regarding a new back problem. He was late, as usual. He briefly looked at the MRI and stated he didn't see what the radiologist. Besides he wouldn't operate on me anyway - I was too big. By the end of August I was unable to walk and was in a care facility. I have since gone to HealthPartners for back and neck care - the care has been wonderful.
My visit with Mr. Sherman was equivalent to a joke. I will not give him the honor to refer to him as a Doctor. He had no interest in my chronic neck pain that I have been dealing with for over a eighteen months now. I recently reinjured my neck and went in to an Orthopedic Specialist for a new perspective as I have already seen so many Nuerologists and Pain Specialists that I had exhausted my resources. What a terrible mistake! Had I only seen these other reviews prior to my wasted appointed...please use better judgement!!
Dr Sherman doesn't even know what patient care is. My back pain has been excruciating. He wouldn't do anything without new MRI even though I just had one done a few months before. I asked for a shot in the back and he said it probably wouldn't do any good, said I should learn to live with it.???? Even though I have had them before and they always worked. If you value your health you had better run to a different Dr. Don't even try to contact him through his nurse. They don't get back to you for days and days. Doesn't matter ... read more
Went to his office because the insurance company sent me here. I will not be taking his advice. He said that I didn't need a lumbar fusion but that I needed to walk more and have more physical therapy in order for my severe leg pain to go away. Since I have 4 fractures in my back he said that it could take 6-24 months for them to heal. I will go with my own physician and get a fusion since I can hardly walk but a few feet , I don't know how I am suppose to walk more in order for my fractures from 3 months ago to heal more.
Dr Sherman said the techniques of the surgeon who I found to be one of the foremost recognized surgeons in Minneapolis,St. Paul and the United States were unclear to him. Dr Sherman didn't seem to understand the work done by this other surgeon. Dr Sherman said some very uncomplimentary things about this other surgeon. Usually that happens when someone feels inferior about their work. I went with the other surgeon and didn't listen to what Dr. Sherman said and am very happy I did.
I found Doctor Sherman to be quite knowledgable, helpful and interested in my pre-surgery concerns, through surgery and my in after-care. His assistant, Leslie, is the best medical professional I have ever dealt with. She works long hours and always returns her messages promptly. Doctor Sherman did everything I asked him to do. He tells it to you straight, which is what probably rubs people the wrong way. I don't get into how I felt about our light hearted conversations after I left his office. I was there to get my pain ale... read more
I had a laminectomy, and fusion L2 - S1 in 2002. The fusion did not fuse because L1 herniated. My arthritis was too bad to put that much strain on the L1 disc. I have suffered with severe chronic pain - much worse than before the surgery.
I was referred to his office by another ortho because Dr. Sherman is a back specialist. Had been rear-ended and sideswiped in MVA 2 months previous to appt.My complaint was of continual low back pain.Dr. Sherman came into the exam room after reviewing my x-rays,he said to me,"considering your hair color,I've seen worse." . When I asked him to clarify that statement, he said "I've seen worse in women your age". I am 55 with white hair.He proceeded to leave the room, at which point I asked what treatment he would recommend. He... read more
Appeared disinterested in me or my pain. Poor listener and lack of sharing information or education regarding diagnosis.
