Service has gone downhill since Jim sold the business. Unfortunately, they’ve kept his name, but not his standards. Like another reviewer mentioned, we had the same issue—a technician came out but didn’t fix the problem. A second technician had to come to resolve it, and we were then billed for two separate visits, with the company insisting these were unrelated issues. When we questioned this, they were unapologetic about this dishonest and misleading practice. We won’t be using them again.
I have a Mazzer grinder that I've been using for 4 years at the shop. The manual lever was getting lose and almost stopped dosing. (That day we couldn't sell any coffee.) Being desperate and worried, I ran to Jim. He laughed and told me not to worry. It's just a spring problem and it'll cost $35 max. (He said "$35" himself twice) The problem is that he doesn't have the spring with him and I'll have to leave my grinder at his shop over the night. He added that he can rent his grinder "for free". I was charged twice for the same problem. I called saying the brewer wasn't making a full batch of coffee and water was leaking from the left side. The technician had to come out a second time to fix the leak and I was told it was a separate issue from what I originally called about.
Used Jim Duke service company twice for my Victoria Arduino E1P. The first time, it went in for a leak after just a couple months of use. Jim Duke was able to get it repaired (took something like 2-3 weeks), however the stainless steel surface of the group head had minor scratches coming out of the repair. They also refused to service the machine onsite because I'm not a commercial user, which sucks because the e1p isn't exactly lightweight.
