I highly recommend checking out Jewlery Class DC. The shop is beautiful and fully equipd with all you need. Dan has many years of experience in the metalworking and jewelry industry and it shows. If you are trying out a new hobby intrest or want to make something with a loved one, this is the place to make those memories! The knowledge you will leave with will make you want to come back and learn even more!
Great three-day intensive metals I workshop. Worked well with my schedule. Dan is a precise teacher that ensures you are learning proper techniques with bending, filing, sawing and soldering. As long as you listen and pay attention, you should be good! Very generous too! Clean and bright workshop. Thank you for teaching this ancient craft!
I have taken a couple of different metal classes and most recently a day workshop on making chains. Dan, the owner and facilitator, is a wealth of information and experience, truly passionate about the craft. I have learned so much and really enjoyed the final product: handcrafted silver jewelry! The class is hands on: you use all the tools, anvils, flames, chemicals to hand forge your pieces. Plus, you meet an amazing community of creative or aspiring creative folks-the new building and studio is incredible!
Class: Metals 2 Instructor: Dan Valencia Pros: Fully equipped jewelers’ benches Nice range of equipment available for use Good instruction when instructor is focused Open studio hours Ample street parking during the day Cons: Music is left on during instruction and demonstrations which is distracting. Questionable ventilation for soldering stations Constant disparagement of how other people teach or learn and how incompetent others are. Incessant bragging about skill, money as well as constant name dropping Little attention ... read more
Love learning from Dan! Metals I & II classes have been a lot of fun. Dan takes great time and patience to teach you how to handcraft jewelry with the right techniques. Highly recommend signing up for the classes or workshops!
