I have had a civil judgement for 4K owed to me for breech of contract now for over 18 months and all attempts to make Jerome Stein pay have failed; he claims that as a working attorney "he has no earnings, has no checking or savings account or method to which to pay me" however I find it odd that for all of 2017 he represented clients in Denton county, in San Antonio and Houston. hired for family law; sued him and won in civil court for breech of contract - now issuing a motion for turnover for his non payment. Won my grievance with State Bar which placed him on probation. This is filed publicly in Collin County
Jerome is again on suspension with the board 03/01/2017 thru 02/28/2018
I hired him to help with custody of my niece and nephew, and after getting the retainer fee, he became a different person. he didn't even file the paperwork, and even sent me the documents to check over before he was to file them and they weren't even for my case, they were for someone else's case. The names were wrong, and then finally after almost 2 years of nothing, I wanted a refund on my retainer since nothing was done. It's true what he does. He will hound you calling 2 to 4 times a day for the retainer. It would appear that his day is consumed by retainer collection. He rarely calls you back, doesn't prepare your case for court ,and seems drunk or high when you do speak to him. I've also noticed several of these recent positive reviews are appear to be rebuttals from Jerome or his staff.
Jerome seems a nice enough atty. when he calls to get the retainer and this is where that ends. He rarely fulfills promises such as timely call backs, being prepared in court and then tells you what you want to hear. THEN NOTHING HAPPENS. I do realize a lawyer can be busy but I also know that if you can be called daily several times for the retainer you can call back when there is a question regarding your case. He took a retainer three years ago to help my current husband adopt my daughter. Nothing has happened, he makes stuff up, lies, does not return calls. Says he does, says he will do better...he is a joke and a scam. Would love to get all the real reviewers together and file a suit for damages.
