My 85 year-old father broke his L4 and was in unbearable pain. He was assigned a surgeon whom he felt was rushing him into a procedure. He has respiratory and cardiac issues and concerns about anesthesia. Arranged a 2nd opinion with Dr. Kolavo; Alane was the nurse who handled the intake. She was compassionate and light-hearted. Took my mother to see this doctor. He dismissed her pain and basically said she has to live with it. She is almost bedridden and he wants her to lose weight and go to therapy. He supposedly was examining her and after wanted her to just just off the exam table? He has NO COMPASSION for anyone in pain! I pray that he or his family never experience the disrespect he gives to his patients. Very rude and dismissive of my concerns. Do not recommend.
I cannot recommend this doctor. He is the kind of doctor who will say that since other patients with similar conditions don't usually have as much pain, you shouldn't be in so much pain. It's almost like some doctors enjoy feeling like they can tell you how much pain you should or should not be experiencing. I also agree with other reviewers that his answer to everything is exercise. And if exercises cause you pain then he wants you to take massive amounts of OTC meds and just keep doing them. His bedside manner needs some w... read more
