I don’t recommend Jennifer MacEwan, Otolaryngology M. D. in Poway to have an ear, nose & throat exam. Her staff was friendly when I arrived but the hearing test was a frightening experience. The audiologist put head phones on me to do the test. The sound of my heart beating was so loud I couldn’t hear the sounds. I felt like I was having a heart attack! She redid the test with ear plug instead. They took my blood pressure which was normally 120 but it had jumped to 167! Dr. MacEwan came in and yelled so loud it hurt my ears.... read more

Front desk receptionist was nice. I saw the audiologist first 10 min. Than the doctors assistant 15 min. Finally the doctor 12 min. Dr checked my nose and input some fluid in it and stuck a long camera. Macewan spoke was informative and professional. She had a reason for the concern I had but wished she could have gone into detail more about my main concern.

She is very gentle, kind and skillful doctor, who can understand your discomfort and always gave the best treatment you can get, I love doctor MacEwan.

I went to them because I was having some sinus pain and ear pain. She noticed ‘a little bit of fluid behind my eardrum, but said it was nothing to be concerned about’. Three days later, I ended up in the ER with a fever and found out I had sinus disease and an ear infection. With doctors like this that’s why our ER departments are congested. I did the right thing by going to her first, but we’re a clean bill of health and not feeling well. I ended up in the ER. I should make her pay for all of my ER visits. Very thorough! I use my voice for a living and having a top notch ENT look after my instrument is a HUGE priority. I feel like I'm in great hands with Dr. Macewan.
