He was the surgeon for the El Camino hospital in Los Gatos. I did not choose him. I went in for a hernia repair, but allegedly another surgeon in E.R. nicked my intestine resulting in A-fib, intubation causing the loss of my front teeth and damaging my lingual nerve, sepsis shock and a 6 week hospital stay with 3 in ICU. Nobody WANTS to need a surgeon, but he is absolutely the person we needed right now. He is the one in our area that does the surgery my husband needed and he has made sure every step of the way to take care of him beyond anything we could have expected. He took the time to get to know my husband before talking shop and responded quickly and graciously when things started getting real and I had more questions. Had an emergency cholecystectomy with Dr. Bastidas at O'Connor. Excellent bedside manner, very professional and good sense of humor. Operation went without a hitch. The man is amazing because he seemed to be at O'Connor all day and the surgery was at 9pm and he met me at 5:30 am the next day to follow up. Haven't done the in-office follow-up but he was certainly no different in the follow-up (like some docs). Would definitely recommend.
I met Dr. Augusto J Bastitas in December 2007 when I was diagnosed with a Perihilar Cholangiocarcinoma. This is a very rare and deadly disease. If it wasn’t for Dr Bastidas, I doubt I would be alive today. Dr Bastidas is exceptional and throughout the last eleven years has always been there for me. I am so thankful to have Dr Bastidas in my life and hold him in the highest regard!
Dr bastidas saved my life in May, 2000 at Stanford. He brought a new surgical treatment from Johns Hopkins to Stanford to drain my pancreatic psedocyst. I have been healthy and living well since!

In short, Dr. Bastidas is a miracle worker. After being diagnosed with an extremely rare "Appendix" cancer called PMP in 2014, I was told by four separate healthcare professionals (ER doctor, General Practicioner, Biopsy Surgeon and my Oncologist) to get my house in order because little could be done. Then, I was introduced to Dr Bastidas. I entered his office with a lot of skepticism and left with a bucket of hope. He takes the time needed to explain anything asked. Very compassionate.
