The Office operation says it all; broken chairs in the waiting room, electronics on the floor, broken & malfunctioning equipment, bulk supplies stored in the exam rooms, poor communication, very long wait times 1.0 hrs+ not good experiences and found another doctor.
Read his ratings carefully before letting Dr. Engel operate on you. My father developed a life-threatening infection, which was NOT Dr. Engel's fault -- but when the emergency room staff AND my parents tried to contact him, he was completely unresponsive. Three days later, the office called to ask if he was coming in for his follow-up appointment. The answer? No, he's in intensive care from a complication. I then met him -- he is arrogant and uncaring, and we have found another urologist.
Had my cystoscopy...I endoese him he's an excellent Dr. The tests was done promptly!
While Dr. Engel is an excellent, knowledgeable surgeon, his Assistant, Ruby is counter effective. She is difficult to reach in person unless one is told how to actually able to make contact to speak with her not her machine. She is not prompt in relaying messages or information. She doesn't take into account that the patient's family has appointments which have to be scheduled around anything that involves the patient. I was diagnosed with Stage 3a prostate cancer in August, 2011. Dr. Engel managed to fit me into his very busy schedule and carried out robotic surgery 2 weeks later. That was 2 1/2 years ago, and all 6 PSA tests since then have been 0 (undetectable). I had no complications from the operation, and no follow up treatments. This doctor is arrogant and he was demeaning and humiliating when talking to me. I had an appointment but had to wait for more than 2 hours. He even arrived late for the surgery and then rushed off without talking to me. Has no bedside manner to speak of. Post Op is terrible - no contact and will not return calls. It seems like this doctor is only interested in making money.
Dr. Engel is comes across as arrogant and condescending, but perhaps it's because he knows that he is a very good, experienced surgeon. However, he will not communicate with patients except during an appointment, and even his aide will not return calls unless it's an immediate emergency. At least he is very honest: He makes it clear that making money is more important to him than the comfort or emotional well-being of his patients.
Dr Engel was Direct, concise and to the point. Was quite pleased with his abilities to diagnose the problem. He always erred on the side of caution which was very comforting. Very professional....I like him.
This doctor seemed like he could not be bothered by me or my wife's questions. When he did answer much of the time his answers were demeaning. Worst of all the results of my surgery were far less than the average. My recovery time was unusually long (assuming I have ever fully recover). Post-surgery care and treatment was something he, apparently, couldn't be bothered with. There are other very good urologist in his area. We waited 2 hours to see him more than once even though we had an appointment.
