While Dr. Comer is a wonderful doctor who is attentive in one on one sessions. The oncology department at Overlake is a new kind of Hades to deal with. You can never get anyone on the phone when you most need them. Team members deflect resposiblity for sending drugs to the wrong pharmacy, after failing to callback patients for verification. My partner was under this doctor's care. This doctor didn't help in a time of need or respond to calls. His follow-up was non-existent after she had a major health event. She suffered from polycythemia vera and was taking hydroxyurea. After needing an emergency splenectomy and additional surgery for bleeding varices it seemed obvious she had developed an intolerance for hydroxyurea, which is common (22%). Dr Comer is very professional and concerned with the patient. Respond fast to patient’s question.
Doesn't answer calls from patients in need. My mother spent two weeks trying to get in touch with this guy (her Dr for polycythemia vera) before dying without ever getting the chance to ask urgent questions about her medication that could have made a life or death difference. Find a different doctor if you want to get care when it matters most.
Dr. Comer is extremely professional and curtious. He is attentive and extremely well versed in current studies. You are not just a number to Dr. Comer, and his staff treat you.like family.
