Very honest – They are impeccably honest. They tell me what work needs to be done and what work does NOT need to be done. They are also especially good at keeping me fully informed during the repair.

Terrific service, awesome mechanic, great shop! – I've been going to Japanese Auto Repair for years and love their service. They can always make a last second appointment and they don't overcharge. I've done nearly a complete overhaul on my Subaru and I couldn't be more impressed with their repair work. They'll quickly diagnose your issue and make note of anything else that may need repair (either now or something to keep an eye on in the future). Excellent service, take it from long-time customer – I am a long-time customer of Japanese Auto Repair and highly recommend their services to anyone. My wife and I, my daughter and her husband, my sister-in-law, and other friends all have our cars maintained by Denny. Should've read reviews – Two co-workers with old and new subaru's recommended JAR so I was very excited to find a good alternative to the dealer. Among other things, they replaced my clutch since my car has over 100k miles on it). Apparently they forgot to check the fluid and master cylinder while they were in there. I drove the car home and had no troubles, but the next day the clutch began sticking so bad that it would pop the clutch out every time I shifted. So I took it back and they adjusted the pedal. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU DECIDE TO USE JAPANESE AUTO REPAIR IN PORTLAND, OR – Fact: Japanese Auto Repair (JAR) charges $85/hr and often has a minimum Quality of works and fairness: Very Questionable. I firmly believe that JAR misdiagnosed my initial car problem which ended up costing me a lot more than the initial estimate they gave.
