I am over 6 years out from emergency open heart surgery (trauma) to repair a damaged heart valve at UMMS. Dr. Gammie came highly recommended from as far away as Wyoming and I was fortunate he and his team were available on a New Years Eve. I am highly engaged in the healthcare environs and can confidently state that Dr. Gammie is one of the finest Cardiothoracic Surgeons this country has to offer. Pre and post care was excellent to include care months and years after surgery. Patients would be fortunate to fall under his car... read more

Had a successful mitral valve repair with Dr. Gammie. He was so confident in his assessment of my issue and his ability to fix it — sure enough he was right. The entire surgical team made my hospital stay better than I could’ve ever imagined. Dr. Gammie even visited each day to check in and answer questions.

It's been 2 years since Dr. Gammie performed my valve surgery/replacement. Last week, I moved 5 cubic yards of topsoil by hand shovel all by myself, and I felt great. If that doesn't qualify as successful surgery, I don't know what does. Thanks, Dr. Gammie.

Dr Gammie repaired my Mitral valve and did a Maze procedure. I healed extremely well. Most interactions are with staff. The nurse practitioners Philomena and Julie were attentive and quick to respond. Everyone was pleasant, professional and made me feel that my health and recovery was important to them.
