I was so disgusted after the first time when he compared my debilitating pain to his Grey hairs on his head. Professional? I decided that when I had a pain episode I would give it a second chance, everybody has a bad day, right? Well, he was just as arrogant this time. I’d be embarrassed if I was ever that rude. A heart would be helpful in his career choice. I hope he does not have his own kids and if he does, I’m sorry. I walked out of there, balled my eyes out and found a new practice. Buh bye
I saw Dr. Rainville for a second opinion a month after I suffered two lower back fractures from a skiing accident. He was extremely pompous and dismissive and even after acknowledging the fractures on the MRI he said the the pain was all in my head. He rushed me out within 10 minutes and told me to get PT without even examining me. I thought I was in good hands since he is the Chief of NEBH Spine Center which is suppose to be the best in Boston, but he was terrible. Never going back.
Dr. Rainville has been treating me for 20 years and I trust him implicitly.Through his program, I was relieved of pain after my initial spinal surgery. This delayed a second surgery for 10 years. He referred me to a tremendous spinal surgeon at NEBH who performed the second surgery and I have been pain free ever since. Now I am seeing him for another spinal issue and he has been wonderful. He thoroughly and carefully teaches what is occurring and the goal of treatment. I highly recommend him.
I have no idea why this man is allowed to say the things he does. Basically he told me to suck it up...level 10 pain is all in my head. I have had 2 operations and was looking for advise before I had a third. He was belittling, talks down to women and really just disaster . My daughter and I left crying. Thank God for the Fellow that was there...he was what saved me from not totally falling apart. This is my life we were talking about and I could no longer work.
Although there might be a wait, Dr. Rainville spends the needed time to assess issues, and never rushes through questions and explanations. He is excellent at teaching and making sure that the treatment options were understood. Dr. Rainville returns calls, and is very kind in his approach.
Seeing Dr Rainville is a great experience. He listens for what is going on with his patients, and recommends treatments accordingly. His focus is on getting your body working properly by figuring out what is happening with any and all spine-related issues, Not simply focusing on dealing with people one symptom at a time. One symptom at a time, often doesn't help with spine issues, and it often can make things far worse. This is the guy to see.
He reviewed an MRI of my spine as a second opinion. Surgery had been recommended. After a thorough examination, Rainville concluded that surgery was not the answer at that time. It's been six or seven years. I'm just fine. I absolutely trust his judgment.
