So group was told by Leon that outside world is exactly like group and so now I set things up like they were in group when preparing to talk to people. How messed up is that? But totally logical and he laid out the steps for us very plainly. I know you all realized this is not how you talk to people, but he kept repeating that no, it is normal, because normal does not exist, and it might work great, and is great, and we should try it, but then.. it is somehow our fault if it doesn't work out.

He conditioned me to blame people and create conflicts, to look for people to blame and resent and oppose them and be mean to them in his style. My personality disorder means I already tend to do it naturally, he modeled it and taught me to get used to thinking like that. Three years! Imagine how much you can program someone over three years while they are isolated and in a receptive state. I wasn't like this before him, only rarely would I get like that but not like now or afterward. It was 100% Leone, I can see it now. Eve... read more

It’s really that simple. He’s a severe narcissist, probably a psychopath. Cult leader. Serial abuser. Sadist (his warning to me). I still can’t believe that happened.

If you view Leon as someone primarily concerned with running a successful scam, then his behavior makes complete sense - the in your face sales tactics, abuses of his psychotherapist position , manipulations, mind games, hyping up his services and throwing accusations to discount his unhappy customers, while coddling his devoted ones. It's like his practice is 30/30/30 sales/therapy/abuse and the rest personal entertainment.

In fact, the whole idea is act like you are the king of the world with no consequences. Psychologists normally view narcissism and psychopathy as disorders and treat them… because, Narcissism + Psychopathy => "Act like you are the king of the world with no consequences" + "organize your own cult like group." Then, work very hard to charm everyone and convince that you are a brilliant therapist - it's not like anybody is going to stop you. It takes talent, but not very hard for the above personality type combination, in fact... read more

So here is a thought. Leone introduced us to psychopath behavior, psychopath lifestyle, psychopath pastimes. He normalized stuff to us that is way, way beyond. We need to just throw most of that trash out. It’s like we did a stint in the mob. Very little was healthy - minimal amount of therapy. Whatever he introduced, reset, restart those aspects from before we walked in his office. It’s wasted time, but better than carrying around psychopath baggage.

My breaking point of disillusionment was when Leon snapped at 15 year group member X, 'Oh, don't snarky, X!' and stopped them from talking. It was said with contempt and disdain and was just clearly out of place and abusive, like the veneer of legitimacy wasn't there this time. X didn't even say anything bad and said it nicely. Like he would get into these negative moods and shame people, and shame them unexpectedly, after just minutes ago encouraging them to talk about anything they felt like with a harmless smile on his fa... read more

To break down your experience and perception of what happened point by point. "I am surprised to see negative reviews of Jim's work". Leone made people doubt themselves about not liking his therapy and convinced them on so many levels literally telling them in various ways both literally and by being nicely dressed, having a Harvard affiliation, and being the therapy association, and having a centrally located office. One of the former members told a bunch of different therapists and professionals exactly what Leone did and ... read more

Re: Lincold W., what is your level of knowledge about psychopaths and cult leaders? I would encourage you to take the same journey we took and research it on Youtube. What happened was that you were taken advantage of by a psychopath, he used you and literally told you that him abusing you is normal therapy, and likely you are still brainwashed and don't realize what happened to you. For starters, seeing a therapist for ten years is not recommended by the APA as it can make the patient dependent on the therapist or may be a ... read more
