A challenging experience Jack Sprat is a wholly unpleasant experience. In my opinion there are two types of coffee shop goers. The first kind are those who want to get a quick cup on the run. This kind of people will experience long delays as the coffee bar is typically staffed by only one barista, even though there are almost always many other employees around. Promotes art in Chapel Hill Thanks to Jack Sprat Cafe for being a supporter of the arts in Chapel Hill. For those of us trying to "make it" in the arts it is so important for us to have venues and Jack Sprat has been there for us. Art adds to the flavor of the cafe.
A bistro with incredible coffee Jack Sprat is a quiet, open restaurant that has a bistro feel to it. The menu is not as comprehensive as I would have liked, but the salads are wonderful (try the bistro salad with mushrooms). For coffee lovers, the coffee is incredible. No need for a venti half-decaf, skim, caramel latte--just go for the regular coffee. it's not "strongs" The Jack Sprat Cafe is now where Strongs used to be. But it does not life up to it's great precessor. The atmosphere is too steril. The comfy sofa's are gone. The staff is now located much farther away from the customers, limiting all interaction to the time the purchuase is made. It's an okay place to do your homework (although the refills are ovcerpriced event though the cups are smaller) ... but nothing to write home about.. Good food, good service, reasonably priced Jack Sprat has very good food at reasonable prices. The potato salad is fantastic! The portabello sandwich and the Reuben are both good, too. Our waitress was friendly and helpful.
