Literally the worst rental company in Iowa City. Extremely UNPROFESSIONAL & RUDE. Moved into a basement of a rental house that had black mold and got flooded and ruined some of my belongings 2 weeks into the lease. ALSO, the worst part, upon moving out & ending the lease, they did not give my full deposit back when there were absolutely no damages. Avoid renting an apartment from them at all costs! They don't plow their driveways during the winter until the snow is pretty much melting away. They don't respond to phone calls or emails if you need repairs. The garbage disposal in my apartment was so backed up that when I moved in, my apartment was infested with fruit flies, and maggots were crawling in the sink. The blinds were broken from the previous tenant, and they had the audacity to charge me for them to be replaced. Don't rent here.

Never had an apartment company handle snow so poorly before. Stairs are consistently never salted, forget about the back entrance, that won't get touched with a 10ft pole during winter. EVERY OTHER apartment complex in the area will get plowed before incompetent J&J even THINKS about plowing their parking lots. They don't regularly maintain their properties either. Save yourself the headache, and probable injuries during Iowa's long winter and go with someone else. They are just not worth your time or money.

owner and staff of this company is very very rude, that is true that they never returned any phone calls or email. we had many issues i do not want to talk about now but they are extremely rude and do not rent this place because they are not there when u need them. when i asked them repeatedly during my to last walk through the apt if i need to do anything before i handout key back to you because i had one whole month extra rent paid for as i had to move out earlier plus i had full deposit ..as they wanted to keep deposit an... read more

Most dishonest company I have ever seen. They either will not or cannot maintain their properties. Avoid at all cost.

Worst Fucking landlord in Iowa City! Moved in to a filthy apartment. Carpet was INFESTED with hair! Terrible customer service. They don't return your calls. Someone from the office called and yelled at me because I wasn't paying the $50 parking fee when I told them 3 times I didn't have a car. I will NEVER rent from them again!

Horrific ! J&J should be banned from handling any type of rental properties. When we arrived to move our student in, we were APPALLED! They promised to fix things, and clean prior to move in. They did NOTHING ! Broken doors, cabinetry, lights didn't work, ROACHES!, dirty walls, dirty carpets. Unreal how awful each property is and worst J&J is terrible to deal with. Seriously, don't rent with them. I'm thinking about taking legal action. Don't count that star either. To leave a review you have to at least grant them a star.

J and J does not deserve any stars. None of Iowa City's property owners do. Not only do they over charge for living spaces that are not up to code and falling apart, they do not tend to the needs of their tenants when need be. Their apartments are unclean and plain just unkept. I will never recommend using their services and I think all students at the University and Kirckwood should file complaints not only to property owners but to the school.
