The employees were great! They were very accommodating and kind. The restaurant was extremely clean. Unfortunately, the food was not worth it. We ordered the cod fish and chips and the baby prawns with fries. Our food was cold and our French fries were soggy.

Need one (or many) in San Diego
After 30+ years of eating at Ivar's this was my first unpleasant experience. The Chowder is AMAZING as usual, but the portions of fish in the fish and chips is smaller. The fries were extremely disappointing. I don't want crispy fries that vinegar just runs off of. This goes against everything I believe in and makes me question my faith.
I have been going to this location for 20 years. Today I ordered 2 pieces of fish and a shrimp cocktail. I eat very small portions so ordered ala carte, to my dismay it was $9.52! They were very busy so I asked to have my shrimp cocktail, which are made in advance. I was told no, your order will be up in a few minutes. I was shocked. They finally delivered it to my table, the fish arrived a bit later. Not sure I will be returning any time soon.
Wonderful food, great service, nicest staff. Also meets my standard for clean.
