So I have been over 24hrs without ac in my home in the middle of July because of this company. I have a dog and had to put him in boarding (out of pocket btw) because I called yesterday for them to fix my ac and it took them over 24hrs to respond (still not fixed also). It is a shame that this platform does not allow consumers to give a business 0 stars. Invitation Homes in Charlotte is the worst leasing experience I have ever encountered. From walls in the same room having different colors (even on the same walls) to a yard that has not been cared for in a long time to the AC unit they refuse to mount to the pad to the house wide electrical issue that are causing surges. They will not give back your deposit even if they have inspected and accepted the home. Even with proper notice to vacate will not get your deposit back. I had to get my attorney involved and it took 4 months after we prepared law suit. Just so you know NC Law REQUIRES landlord to return deposit no later than 30 day. If not the tenant can be awarded up to 3x the deposit. My advice is document every conversation, respond to them with an email. Send notice by return receipt and photograph eveything. I am a Veteran and at the time that I had lived in an Invitation Home, I had resided in well over 15 different locations, including on military installations, and had always gotten my deposit back. I would never recommend Invitation Homes to anyone. We sold our home 10 years ago because we outgrew it so we rented until we purchased again. We rented from them for more than 6 years in the same house. When we decided to purchase we only renewed a 6 month lease vs. Renting month to month. Approaching the 6 months, we notified them of the move. They were requesting that we buy ourselves out of the lease. On top of that we had a $2000 security deposit with them. Today I had to give Invitation homes a call in regards to an HOA violation and Julie Layer was amazing in getting all my questions answered and resolved in an timely manner. She was very personal and professional. She also asked to send me all paperwork I needed to confirm the actions she took for us. We love our Invitation rental Home. Bad customer services Communications whit employers so bad No refund deposit for any thing
They're trying to screw us out of our security deposit, for the second time. We moved out of an Invitation Homes rental last month. They kept $825 of our security deposit to pay for a new refrigerator, knowing that the refrigerator was dirty, damaged and disgusting when we moved in two years ago. We have pictures of the dirt and damage taken at move in, and the dirt and damage is clearly indicated on the move in paperwork.
