Horrible! – As mentioned in other reviews, the rooms are very small. The bathroom is not only small, it is awkward to negotiate. There is no exhaust fan which proved to be not so fresh for such a small room. Our late night meal was left outside our room until early evening of the next day. This created a foul odor directly outside of our tiny room. The staff were unresponsive. Moreover, during our stay we had occasion to interact with on-site hotel management; we found them to be unresponsive and disrespectful. We do not rec... read more
Beautiful lobby, but rooms are plain – The lobby is beautiful and looks very regal. They use Bath and Body Works for their shampoo, condition, lotion and soap. Pretty much you're paying for location, as it is walking distance to Times Square and a subway station is just 3 blocks away. The concierge can also help you out with making reservations at restaurants. However don't expect anything grand with the bedroom. The rooms are very small and fits only a bed, desk and TV. Bathrooms are just as tiny and don't resemble the rest... read more
A historic hotel with grand public spaces and conservatively decorated rooms. – The Scene This grande dame of a hotel, which opened in 1924, was recently closed for two years while a $65 million renovation was completed. It now shows off its rejuvenated historical grandeur, welcoming guests to the place where Guy Lombardo broadcast every New Year's Eve. It is huge, with 1,015 rooms in a glorious Italian Renaissance building that occupies a full city block just north of Grand Central. Notable architectural highlights include ... read more
We loved it! – The Roosevelt really does transport you back in time. Beautiful lobby and lively bar helped to make it feel so "classy". Yes, the rooms are small but are comfortable and tastefully decorated. The location really is right in the heart of the city, around the corner from Grand Central and a short walk to Times Square, Madison Ave, etc. We'd gladly stay here again!
Awesome Hotel – This is by far our favorite hotel for the price, you can't beat it. Great location, you can walk everywhere from here. The service was outstanding. The hotel itself is beautiful. Very romantic with a nice litte spots to sit and chat. The rooms are small but well appointed. The shower pressure is the best we've felt in any hotel. If you arrive early just check in and they will hold your bags. We felt it was worth every penny. We highly recommend it and will stay here again.
Nice lobby! – I feel lucky to have found a great rate on this hotel! Our room was as large, and with an outside view. Our friends' room was a bit smaller w/out the great view. The location was perfect for Grand Central and Times Square. I never found a shortage of cabs either so I could venture away from the tourist. If you can find an inexpensive deal with this hotel, I highly recommend it for a visit to the city.
I will return. – This hotel was exactly what I thought it would be after reading reviews etc. on the internet. A clean and comfortable standard size room and bath and a grand old New York Hotel lobby and lounge, very well priced. Just around the corner from Grand Central.
Grand Hotel – I went here for a college media conference and spent a night, and while it wasn't luxurious by any means, it was definitely classic New York. You feel like you are back in the 20s. The people at all the various shops and at the bar were very hospitable. That's all you can ask for.
Lively Bar – The Roosevelt Hotel deserves great credit for their fun, international bar dedicated to it's hotel guests. The bartenders really make the bar! The hotel rooms are a bit boring, with all the basics, but little more. The service in the hotel makes up for the average rooms. The gourmet takeout coffee shop is great and also staffed by a great server. The staff have made this hotel more than a 3 star hotel. The lobby is fabulous. Location is very convenient to Grand Central Station and Times Square. I enjoyed my stay... read more
