I received outstanding care yesterday. From Anne in pre-op processes, to check-in, registration, pre-op nursing, surgical nursing, and post-op nursing were top notch. Very much a team approach and triple and quadruple checking everything. It could not have been better. Highly recommend!
I understand healthcare jobs can be extremely stressful and I know I could never work at a hospital. So I will extend grace but people need to know: the expeirence we had this morning was horrible. The staff at the front desk were absolutely nasty. Horrible attitudes and spoke to my spouse in a way that was not called for. A bad day, night, shift can explain it, and I totally understand. Did my spouse miss a step in their instructions? Yep. But please treat others respectfully.
(They replied saying they want to talk. They didn't actually follow up when I emailed. It seems their replies here are for show.) My procedure went fine but the billing and insurance aftermath has been a mess. They (over)billed me upfront, and when their claim was denied, instead of sorting it out directly with the insurance company, they put me in the middle of it all. Inova Fair Oaks Hospital has apparently confused “patient care” with “summoning people early so the hospital does not have to wait.” My mother was told to arrive 90 minutes early for a colonoscopy. The explanation was that this time was needed to answer questions and prepare her. In reality, we sat in the waiting room for the entire 90 minutes. No meaningful preparation. No extended intake.
