I was informed by a representative that did not accept my insurance. After verifying independently, I confirmed that this information was incorrect, as my insurance is in fact accepted. This type of misinformation is extremely serious, particularly in a healthcare setting. Providing inaccurate insurance information could prevent individuals—especially vulnerable populations—from seeking necessary care. I was a patient at Michigan Medicine Hospitals, a few weeks later independent medical networks called me. The number came up as possible spam but I answered anyway. The lady explained that they are contracted with Michigan Medicine Hospitals to help obtain Medicaid for uninsured patients. The service was great because they do all the work and I ended up Medicaid that paid for my hospitalization and saved me thousands.
