The search is over we finally found a good VW mechanic that isn't too far away and won't charge an arm and a leg or two. After consistently paying too much at the dealership, my wife’s friend told us about Independent Auto and that they we're great. Paid this shop over $1200 to repair an engine coolant leak on a Volkswagen Passat. Car was in shop over 12 days to accomplish repairs. Four days after car came out of shop discovered an OIL LEAK originating from the same part that was replaced to solve the coolant leak. Heater hoses that were replaced as part of the repair process to solve the coolant leak are now leaking again – less than 60 days later! The ultimate sin…? The mechanics are extremely knowledgeable about VWs. They will give you a better price than dealers, and if you need to, you can usually talk directly to the mechanics, instead of going through the paper pushers in the office.
These guys do great service. They don't rip you off like the dealers, and they go out of their way to fix your car right the first time at a lower cost.
i took my car to independent automotive and all i can say is what a great experience it was. i had my car towed to there shop and they explained what had happened in plain english. they fixed my car just in time for my vacation. i drove from phoenix to portland and back without any problems whatsoever. i will be recommending this shop to all of my friends. thank you very much Luke Sheppeard
I've been taking my '01 Jetta to Independent Auto since 2006. On my first visit I asked for an educated opinion about the life left on my car which then had about 80K. Steve the owner evaluated it, identified some repairs it needed now & others that could wait. The car now has 120K. I can highly recommend Steve and his friendly staff on every level: workmanship, service (efficient and friendly), and most importantly, trustworthiness. I have two Volkswagens and have had them both serviced by Steve. His knowledge, expertise, and care for German autos is remarkable. You can tell he loves these cars.
I had just purchased a car from a broker, drove away, and 3 hours later my check engine light goes on. Call the broker, says hands are tied since they are selling for the bank. Run a test at Auto Zone, which tells me one of 3 things could be wrong, 2 of which the parts would cost around $400 and add labor. Call Steve at Independent Auto VW and he tells me to bring it down that morning. I TOOK MY 2005 PASSAT TO FIX LAST WEEK, I HAVE EXTENDED WARRANTY ON IT, BUT THE WARRANTY DID NOT WANTED TO COVER THE COST, IT HAD A PROBLEM WITH A GASKET FROM THE ENGIENE AND THE OIL PUMP COOLER, SO ALL THE ENGINE COOLER WAS VERY VERY BAD, IT WAS BROWN.
