Independence Blue Cross (IBX) needs to seriously address its lack of after-hours support for hospitals. While their website lists support until 6 p.m., the hospital treating our family member was told behavioral health authorization closes at 5 p.m. This makes no sense for a healthcare insurer responsible for supporting hospitals and patients during urgent situations. Chelsi Woody did the impossible and was able to fix the Pennie system while Pennie tech support was unable to figure it out and had to open up a ticket. Chelsi has a wealth of knowledge on how the system works and was able to fix the issue within an hour after I had already been through multiple tiers of Pennie support.
