Not many people know about Il Pizzaiolo but it is one of the best places in Pittsburgh to savor authentic Neapolitan pizzas. The pizza crusts are crisped in a brick oven over wood fire at 1000 degree Fahrenheit (538 degree Celsius) for just one and a half minutes and impregnated with Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Their Buffalo mozzarella cheese is imported from Naples while the other cheeses and meats are sourced from international food producers. This has been my favorite restaurant the past two years (and so I have been coming occasionally) but the last two experiences has been below satisfactory. To begin with the compliments: the food almost never fails. If you’re looking for something close to authentic in the Pittsburgh area with a cozy atmosphere, I would most likely recommend Pizzaiolo Primo at Market Square! Great food with a really energetic vibe. Cole, our server, is the best server I have ever had. Ask to be seated in his section :)
Came here to celebrate my birthday. Food was great and came out timely, I had the penne vodka (delicious!). Bridgette and Michelle were incredible and made sure we were taken care of all night. We were the last table at the end of the night, they brought out my cake and sang to me which was so sweet. This has always been my favorite spot downtown, and I can’t recommend it enough!
