Cozy average fare – Went to Il Buco on a Friday night. The atmosphere is homey. There is only one individual table for 2 in the entire restaurant. Otherwise, parties of 2-3 are seated on a communal table. Service is good, although not a place you can sit and talk. When we didn't place our dessert order right away, the waiter came three times and then sent the hostess as a subtle nudge to leave. The food is ok, good, but not spectacular. Desserts are sub par. The disappointing thing was that everyone was of one demographic, m... read more

Saltiest Pork of all time! – After making a reservation weeks in advance, our table was in the "climate controlled" basement which was absolutely freezing! Appetizer of Hamachi and bloodorange was good. However, after a very long, cold wait for the main course, due to a "timing problem in the kitchen" our meals finally arrived. I had the pork with polenta and radishes and was salty beyond belief. When you are up all night drinking water and still paying for it the next day I don't want to be paying these kind of prices! Afte... read more

Delicious & authentic Italian w/ great atmosphere – Intimate & rustic atmosphere. The food was fresh and delicious! My gnocchi was a bit on the salty side, but sashimi appetizer, duck confit & risotto were AMAZING! Definitely one of the best, authentic Italian restaurants in the city. Worth a try- but make reservations!

Great Restaurant on Bond St. – Small, Classy, and very intimate setting. The scene is "Old Euro" The food is good! I had the Ribeye (prepared medium). I enjoyed it. It's really a nice place to go and relax. It's not a loud crowd and the lights are dimmed. It's definitely worth a try if you're in the area. The staff is also good.

Wonderful Italian! – We just went to Il Buco with my work colleagues for our Holiday dinner. We had the back room by the kitchen. The food was out of this world! We are all a bunch of wannabe foodies and all of us were in heaven. We began with a selection of starters, the rocket and parmesan salad was divine, simple but so tasty. I had the branzino, now I don't like brussell sprouts, but the one's served with this dish were nutty and delicious! The dessert sampler was too amazing!!!!!!!!!!! We all had so much fun, the atmosp... read more

Favorite Restaurant in NYC – As a person who loves dining in NYC, I LOVED Il Buco... It is amazing - great service, fabulous food, wonderful wine! The ambiance is so terrific - upstairs is a great dining room and downstairs the wine cellar feels so old world and romatic. The temp is a little colder downstairs since it is a wine cellar, so I would keep that in mind if you get cold quickly or are a girl with clothes ont he mind:) Eating in the cellar is a surreal experience - the city just disappears and you feel like you are ... read more

Romantic Mediterranean restaurant tucked away in a Noho antique store. – The Scene When this antique store opened in 1994, its hidden kitchen quickly became an in-the-know favorite. Artisanal Italian ingredients, stellar wines and serious service steadily raised its rank among foodies, while romantics flocked to dine in the 200-year-old candlelit cantina. The livelier rooms upstairs, festooned with funky kitchen bric-a-brac chandeliers and farmhouse furniture, are packed until midnight. The Food A good place to start on the ... read more

never mind the loudness – OK ,it can be loud..for sure too loud when some drunk rude patrons get really loud disrepecting every other diner .What should a reastaurant do ? Give this guys a break ! I have been a regular for years and it is one of the few places in the city with a loyal following ,even if they have some ups and downs but believe me there is not much better around and far more expensive horrible places in New York ...so my advice is give them a chance..it will not be wasted !

Pretty Rustic Setting but too LOUD! – Too loud to talk. we went with another couple and it was really hard to hear one another across the table!! I like the decor though. The food is good although the main courses were better than the appetizers. We didn't have to wait for our table which was nice.
