Good food, terrible service – My husband and I have been here many times but after a terrible experience this weekend, we will not be going back. Sigh...where to begin. Things started to go downhill when the waiter spilled our bottle of wine all over our table (and my husband's white shirt) and didn't return to clean it up. By that point, we had been waiting for some of our appetizers for almost 45 minutes. When my husband tried to discreetly complain to the manager about the wine and the wait, the manager came to our table ... read more
PERFECT – My fiance proposed to me down in Il Buco's wine cellar. It was perfect, and the staff were fantastic. It was the most romantic place.
Don't Bother-Overrated – When I made the reservation, I specifically asked for a special table for two for a birthday. Instead, we were seated at a long COMMUNAL table that was basically a picnic bench. Located just outside the kitchen, the servers were knocking into our chairs every time they walked by. The waitress had real attitude. We literally said we needed "one minute" to order and she came back in 15, letting us know she was annoyed we were trying to get her attention while she stood around chatting to other staff me... read more
Great customer service – I went there for the first time last weekend on a date and had the best time. The food was fantastic and the service was spot on. The people there really seem to enjoy what they do and our server was knowledgeable and friendly. I know nothing about wine and the sommelier took time to talk to us about what we were eating and picked us the perfect wine to pair with our meal. She really knew what she was talking about, even telling us a story about the vineyard owner I would recommend this place to anyo... read more
All around superb! – I was pleasantly surprised by this gem of a restaurant. I just celebrated an anniversary with my husband and it was by far one of our best nyc experiences. FYI if you want a romantic seating be sure to ask for seating for 2 or you could get stuck sitting at the "banquet" style tables. The rabbit just fell off the bone it was so tender and the gnocchi was so perfectly made. The service was top notch as was the wine suggestion made by the sommelier. We really liked the ambiance which felt cozy and unpreten... read more
Poor service, food quite unimpressive; Don't get lured in my the charm of the space! ... – Our server was rude and aggressive in her manner - she had all the attitude, but not of the charm, of a waitress at a west side greasy spoon - an offensive curt manner. She got defensive about not understanding a drink order (brought an americano coffee instead of an americano cocktail), and rather than admit her mistake kept interrupting me when I tried to clarify what I wanted. Most of the other wait staff during our meal were fine -... read more
Amazing rustic Italian cuisine, with tons of celebrity sightings – I went here on a double-date on Friday night and thankfully we knew to make reservations in advance. I love Bond Street restaurants and all the other restos in this neighborhood but I could be biased because I live in the area, though. Regardless, when we got to Buco (20 minutes late but they were still willing to get us our table if we waited at the bar). In those 10 minutes that we waited at the front bar while they prepared our table, I noticed I was stand... read more
Outstanding service! – My boyfriend and I took my out-of-town parents to Il Buco last Friday night for dinner. It was our first time there. After delicious appetizers, someone (I think he was the manager) came over to let us know one of our four entrees (mine) would be delayed a few minutes. He apologized profusely and offered me a complimentary salad, which I declined. The entree arrived less than five minutes later. At the end of our meal, our waiter brought over four (terrific) desserts, compliments of the management. We ... read more
Excellent, personal service / Incredible food – I haven't written many reviews but felt compelled to write one for Il Buco. I took my boyriend there for his birthday, they made sure it was special and treated us very well. I didn't even have to remind them it was his birthday. The service was smart and personable and the manager came over to ask how our meal was at the end. Be sure to ask for a private table if you want to dine alone as some tables look like you will sit close to other diners. The location is unassuming but ... read more
