I was diagnosed with POTS by 2 other doctors. I saw Dr. Ijem and he told me because I looked young and healthy I couldn’t possibly have autonomic dysfunction. He said only older people with comorbid diseases like Sjorens or others were the only cause for POTS. Dr. Ijem either needs to do a bit more research or not base diagnosis simply off physical appearance. I’ve lost 120 lbs. I pass out frequently. I have a paralyzed stomach. Dr. Ijem was friendly with a warm bedside manner. I am almost 40, and the my father and grandfather both had heart attacks before 45. With this in mind I’ve sought out Cardioligist’s. All of which downplayed my family history and said I had simple anxiety even though at times I have blood pressure readings over 200/183. Dr. Ijem treated me with courtesy and respect, set up appointments for scans and such, and now I can see if something is wrong before I end up in the E.R Or worse. Would recommend him to anyone that asked!

I went to see Dr Ijem after open heart surgery with three requests: for a prescription, a referral to cardiac rehab, and help with some paperwork. Not only did he refuse to help with any of these requests, he ordered an unnecessary echocardiogram for a week later, unnecessary because I'd had four of them in the previous year and they gave no indication that i needed a triple bypass.
