Humana Gold is a terrible plan if your patient has a serious "orphan" condition with no FDA approved drugs. Getting a drug approved is like pulling teeth. As a doctor, I am not allowed to talk to a doctor or a pharmacist to review the situation, and all I can talk to is to clerical personnel that has little to no medical knowledge.
Still looking for an insurance company in the U.S. that isn't horrible. Humana stopped accepting providers from Tenet Hospitals, where I receive all of my well woman and OB treatment. So, it's out of pocket for me! I'm also being spammed DAILY about "Joining Weight Watchers for FREE!" while I"m 6 months pregnant. How about offering a fitness program instead of focusing on food and getting people entangled with this ridiculous program? Humana is a poor excuse for a Medicare Health Advantage plan. They promise things to get you to sign up, but never follow though with them. I was promised something to sign up for 2017 and had to call 4 times to see where it was. They kept telling me it was in the mail, but I kept waiting 3 weeks and had to call back again. I will not be signing up with them in 2018. The are liars and will say anything to have you sign up. DO NOT USE HUMANA.
