History Established in 2007. Flat Rock's only general store, Peace's Grocery, located at the intersection of W. Blue Ridge Road and Hwy 225, closed in the 1980s after nearly 100 years. The closure left a void in the community. The building sat vacant for several years until Starr Teel and Virginia Spiegner, reopened the store in 1990. Virginia opened her store, The Wrinkled Egg, and Starr began baking in the back room of the store. I just had the shrimp and grits w friends and family. Great food, great setting and overall two thumbs up
The owner is frequently there and is as down to earth as they come! His signature pulled pork BBQ is wonderful and it is just right! If you catch them at just the right time of year, the smoked fish taco is BANG-ON!!!!
