Normally I would file my own taxes but with two daughters in college I wanted to be sure that everything was documented correctly. I trusted H & R Block Advisors in Andover, MA. I was first quoted between $150 - $195 but once the advisor finished and told me the cost would be $350. This was a pretty simple return, the tax advisor apologized and explained this was not his pricing but controlled by H&R Block. I am currently fighting to get the program to work. I have been a customer of the downloadable program for years and the customer support has never been best but this is the first year that it is impossible to get through to technical support (5 hours 4 calls and counting). This is after misleading advertising (it look like "Free for state" and was "Fees for state." The last three years I have used their online free software since I make well below the minimum amount necessary. This year I went ahead and chose to use them again under the same free system that they advertised before, except everything as far as fees and hidden charges we're riddled throughout. Last year I was able to claim all the regular deductions and even had to file multiple States and it was all listed as free, and was true to it's word. UnSolicited Spam/ Marketing is Unacceptable. This business practice is Shady and any corporation that Does not have a way to Opt Out via any online account is Wrong. One is Only aware of this Issue when one gets this Unwanted Spam! It should be Unacceptable that my PII data is Sucked into a Vortex of a database for the sole purpose of Exploitation. h&R block is the worst to deal with.sturgis SD.owner .is very rude the Emerald card service is the worst I ever felt with .they rude they lie to you the will even cuss you out .and that is their supervisors .as well as employees .i won't be using h&R ever again I used an for 30 years not any more I won't

H&R Block made an error on my 2018 tax return which cost me $17,700 in back taxes and penalties. It has over a year since I had to pay these back taxes and H&R Block has done nothing to reimburse me for the mistake they made. And yes, I paid for the "Piece of Mind." H&R Block continues to give me a different story each time I contact them. On person tells me to continue to wait for additional IRS letters, another tells me they are still working on it (yeah, a year later?). I purchased HR Block deluxe plus State software. No problem filing the federal return, the state return has turned into a nightmare. My state is still in pending status weeks after the federal was accepted. I contacted the state and they have no record of my return and requested HR block retransmit the return. I have called HR block customer service 3 times (average hold 1.5 hours each time) they escalated my problem to level two and assigned a case number. The day I had my taxes done by a rep named Fatima M******** she kept making comments about the phones and internet not working not working well. When I paid my fee at the desk Fatima kept telling me the web was delayed. this went on for several minutes. She then said that my payment showed as accepted, and said that unless I wanted a receipt my bill was paid. Over the next few weeks I would occasionally check the IRS website about my return. Unfortunately I've had some employees mess up on our return. This last year filed 2019 with Randi Nulley at the Murrieta location. She made an honest mistake and put the wrong income information and when brought to her attention and I finally wanted to speak with the manager and she comes into me speaking with the manager calling me psychotic and being very hostile and rude to the point the manager had to ask her MULTIPLE times to stop and to please get out.
