Pandemic or not, I can’t afford to keep $200 in a Checking account at all times, nor can I afford an $8 monthly fee. Sadly, I had to switch banks. Former 1st Mariner customer who was happy with your bank before this. Very happy with my new bank, however, & I only need to keep $.01 in my checking account.

Business response:

Hi Lisa. Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to see you go and hope you reconsider a relationship with us in the future. Our door is always open and we'd be happy to speak with you any time on how we can best accommodate your needs.

Nice, roll out fees in the middle of a pandemic if you don’t keep a minimum of $200.00 in your account at all times. Will be changing banks at my first opportunity.

Claim to be a hometown bank but change their checking account to include fees while we are still in a pandemic.

Business response:

Hi Josh. We responded on your other post but wanted to make sure we touched base on this one as well. Our new account options are intended to provide customers with valuable, money-saving benefits such as roadside assistance, cell phone protection, dining discounts, and much more. We realize these benefits may not be for everyone so we’d like the opportunity to discuss your options with you. Please message us your contact info at your convenience and we will be in touch. We apologize for your poor experience and we'd like th... read more

CHECK YOUR STATEMENTS! When our accounts transitioned from 1st Mariner two years ago, one of our checking accounts was converted into a “Relationship Checking” account. I just noticed I’ve been charged $20 per month, totaling $440. I never selected this type of account nor did I authorize the fee. Unfortunately, they would only refund $60. What kind of bank charges a $20 fee and the only benefit is they pay you 0.01% in interest? One hundredth of a percent. That’s 1 penny for every hundred dollars in your account. My fault f... read more

Business response:

Hi Sahrah. We take this feedback seriously and would like to apologize for any confusion caused by our transition in 2018. We’d be happy to discuss your account options with you and try to resolve the situation the best we can. If you’re open to that, we can have a member of our management team contact you at your convenience. Again, we apologize for any frustration caused and would like the opportunity to provide a positive experience with us moving forward. Thank you.

I have banked with Howard Bank (Aberdeen Branch) since they bought out my bank several years and am so pleased that they kept the best banker gainfully employed. Teresa Stout is an amazing resource, person and banker! She walked me through the PPP process and that helped save my nearly 20 year small business from going under during this Covid pandemic. Teresa Grubb Stout is a hero and so are all of the Howard bank employees that work so diligently to help us in this crazy time. If you are a small business you will not regret... read more

The guidance from Chris and Toni on daily business items has been such a joy to know who to go to and that they will know how to get the job done. How great it is to have Howard bank and feel confident that they can provide the services we need. One less worry for us on a daily basis.

Howard Bank is all about taking care of the people in our community! They give personalized service, where employees know us by name and offer a warm and inviting atmosphere. We love working with people who know us personally, people that we can trust to help us get the answers and services we need, like Teresa Stout did with the PPP loan process (just to mention one example). Teresa made the entire process so simple, which was refreshing during a national pandemic. Diamond, Mike and Lilia are always helpful no matter what o... read more
