Hotel Utah is a low key, neighborhood bar that serves up local music seven nights a week along with food and drink. Shows never cost more than a few dollars, and are sometimes free. Mondays are open mic night, so if you want to become a star yourself, start here. The location near the happening SoMa District makes for an interesting mix of clientèle ranging from dot-commers (and increasingly rare species) to artists to refugees from the Financial District. Have a brew and enjoy the people-watching.

Place is terrible! They don't treat their musicians well at all! Stiffing the band because your sound guy sucks is not acceptable. Don't bother, not worth your time!

I have been there with Brendan Joe and Cindy and their friends twice and love it and will always go back every time I visit my son in San Francisco that place has great food is and I love that they have everybody go on stage and get up and do there thing with a guitar or sing or whatever, it's just a great night out! :-) pretty sure its Monday night (open mic night) you gotta check it out...
