We had Hospice at Home for my husband’s grandmother. We did not want to let her die in a nursing home. The hospice social worker came out and talked with us and went over her plan of care and asked us what we wanted for her. They worked with us to make everything as easy and stress free as possible. My dad was admitted last year on a Friday at 12 pm for end stage renal disease. He decided to not continue dialysis and also had cancer. They settled him in and did not give my mom any information on what to expect, what "stage" he was in and really didn't come check on him unless asked of. We were in the dark about the process. We don't do this everyday so guidance would have been appreciated. He was very agitated so they kept giving him morphine to keep him calm.
