This was my first time ever needing an ambulance, and what followed was a nightmarish ordeal of neglect and unprofessionalism. 1. Abandoned in Pain: Upon arrival, I was left in the waiting area. Be aware that their maternity ward may have wonderful staff members BUT they are not functionally capable of handling three women who are delivering at the same time. Right from the beginning I made myself clear to all the doctors/midwives that I would like an epidural but I never ended up receiving it because that one doctor was currently being used. They were heavily understaffed and everyone was running amock that night. During the two hours of active labour, I repeatedly rang for help and told them I was in so much pain.... read more
Have found certain staff in the Emergency area to be very helpful. Unfortunately in the PECC area we felt that on the 28th December particularly, the nurse giving medication in the afternoon was very unfriendly to us & our family member & when we left she didn't utter a word. I would think when staff are there for people suffering from poor mental health they could apply some friendliness to particularly the patient moreso & their family visitors, especially during the Xmas Season. No effort in being kind.
From start to finish, I experienced excellent care at ED Hornsby. I presented with a piece of timber through my finger, and the service I received was exceptional. This hospital truly cares about its patients.
Apparently this hospital does not provide facilities or support its medical staff having a Power Nap or appropriate rest when it’s quiet on night shifts. The staff work tirelessly and to be told they’ll resort to making the lounge more uncomfortable if it’s found that staff are sleeping is incomprehensible. I’m sure patients would prefer a doctor who has snatched a half hour of sleep during an 18 hour shift than one who feels like a zombie.
