I received a call back for.a message I left regarding my daughter needing immediate help, all they offered was more contacts I could call and more websites to go to..Just like government run medical facilities this one is no better. When someone is in need and reaching out...you should help...its your profession, not offer another # to call. No wonder people with eating disorders have a high death rate..no one cares enough..
The only thing I found good about homewood were the people that were recovering around me. Absolutely horrible staff with no expertise on how to actually treat people when they are in recovery. The “nurses”, if you could even call them that, are rude and very under qualified . They will discharge you for being 1/2 minutes late to your “5 pm check-ins”, even if you’ve been leading meetings, making connections, and doing all you can to get better. It’s been about 1 year since I went here. My review is based on my personal experience here based on that time. PROS: - Nice rooms and bathrooms, good amenities such as a gym, spiritual room, cafe, store/gift shop.. and really nice grounds. - Some of the staff were kind, some weren’t so great. Homewood calls itself a leader in mental health, but families should know the reality patients are medicated, dismissed, and discharged without compassion, dignity, or real safeguards. My Twin left Homewood over sedated, unsupported, and without follow up care in place. Families who raised red flags were brushed off with scripted lines about “trained psychiatrists” while serious risks were ignored. What a waste of time and money. When I first got here, I was admitted to IMAAC. I had a good initial impression of the care I had received, so I decided to stay for Cornerstone TSICP. I was fortunate to have consistent nurses and a good therapist during my time in IMAAC. The chaplain is the most wonderful person I’ve met here. She helped me more than anyone else had.
